Ripped Up Zombie Babe

Hey Zombie Fans around the world! Here's image number two from our week long "Zombie Babe" series. As I've mentioned in many other posts,I really love drawing the female form but I don't get to do much sexy babe drawing while immersed in the undead, mostly on account of the dead are kinda ugly,so,I had to figure out a way to draw attractive women as zombies. Now,with the help of Zombie Daily,I get to do both. Whew! Hey Zombie Nation, let me know what you think of "Zombie Babe Week" in the "comments" section.

Sock Hop Zombie Girl

Hey Zombie Fanatics! I'll leave you all with a "old timey' type zombie before I leave for the Festival of Fear this weekend. I love the zombies that have those totally blackened eyes that look like eight balls. That in addition to the sort of '50's twist and you've got one creepy zombie. I hope to see as many zombie fans this weekend as humanly possible,so for those who are able to make it out to the Fan Expo, have a fantastic time!! I'll see you when we get back zombie nation! Wish us luck!

New Zombie Comic in the Works : Zomboy

Hey Zombie Nation! Here's another sneak peek at a potential character in the Zombie comic I'm working on. I can't really get into story specifics, but I think that he might be involved in some zombie bounty hunting of some kind. Stay tuned for more updates,as I plan to burn the midnight oil on this project for the next several months.

Deli of the Living Dead

Greetings Zombie Nation! Today I have a special treat for you. I have always said that I love having Zombie Daily so that I can showcase the fun personal zombie art that I do,but it is also great for showcasing all of the great commission jobs that I work on as well. This was a great piece to work on,it was also huge, almost 20 by 30 inches! although I've worked on sizes like that before, the detail in this painted illustration was painstaking to say the least. It was commissioned by the owner,Mark Gregorini,a great guy and a huge zombie and comic book fan. I actually went in and took the photo that I worked from during a very busy lunch time too,so that I could have a bit more control as to how the finished piece would look. It is a great deli right in the heart of downtown Sudbury Ontario and if you're in the neighborhood look me up and we'll have lunch...on you,of course....

Brand New Zombie Bobble Head

Hey Zombie Nation! It's time again for another ghoulish bobble head. This guy is really one of my favorites. I think it's the proportions, the look on his face and the actual coloring that successfully bring this bobble head to life. I can almost see him bobbling at the edge of my art table. I loved doing this series and even after having done thirty or so of these little monsters,I almost feel like doing more some day. They were so much fun. Enjoy!

I'll let you all know when it airs. I also hope to soon post images from Jonathan Maberry's "Rot and Ruin' book which can be ordered from the Zombie Portraits site! Hope you liked today's image! Another Bite of Zombie Stew 2

Hey Zombie Fans! Here is another look from the very large Zombie Stew 2 image. Incidentally, the place mats that I mentioned in yesterday's post feature the art from both Zombie Stew 1 and 2. Although they seem like forever to finish,I love doing the super huge, detailed drawings like this. I just finished two giant zombie diner scenes as a special request from a super zombie fan. As the owner the diner,he asked me to do a 50's retro style black and white version, from and old photo, and a newly refurbished, modern version while the place was packed for lunch! I will be posting those soon! Enjoy!

Maggoty Girl and her Suiters

Greetings zomboys and girls! Every once and awhile I like to draw more than one zombie in a grouping, however I've always wondered what exactly to call a group of zombies. Geese have gaggles, cattle have herds, crows have murders and bugs have swarms, but what to call a number of zombies, other than a number of zombies? It would have to sound menacing I would imagine and I suppose it could be a made up word, possibly cautionary. Hmmm,I'll have to ponder that. Let me know if you have any ideas Zombie Nation. Just write 'em in the comment section.

They Just Will Not Go Down

Hey Zombie Nation! This is a great example of a drawing that basically had a life of it's own. Sometimes I'll just be sketching, moving the pencil around the page to see what happens, not really knowing what I'll end up with, and then suddenly something will start to take shape and I will actively try to give it some form. This is one of those drawings. Sometimes those sketches are crap, and other times they actually end up pretty good. If anything, this one is a great example that no matter how badly a zombie is shot up or otherwise damaged,(check out her right heel),it will still keep coming for you.

Franken-Zombie-Bobblehead

Hey Zombie Nation! well,it's been a while since I've posted a zomb-bobble so here goes. This particular zombie shares a lot of frankensteinish qualities. and while I maintain that the Frankenstein monster is not an actual zombie,he does have a lot of zombie characteristics, the greatest being that he is literally the dead that has come back to life. My inclusion of the man made Frankenstein type monster in my Zombie Handbook has from time to time sparked some debate, but I believe that these creatures almost belong in a class of their own.

Walking Dead in Pencil

Greetings Zombie Fans! I'm not a big fan of finished pencil work, mainly because I like to keep my artwork surface very clean, but from time to time,I get on real "pencil rolls" where I'll do a bunch of stuff in messy graphite. Of course I do love it when other artists use pencil to finish an art piece and I think that the subject of zombies really lends itself well to the pencil interpretation. Some guys do a really superb job, although no names come to mind. I think that one day I'd really like to learn how to effectively pencil finished art without having a giant faded mess on my hands...literally.

Swine Flu Originator:Blast from the Past

Hey Zombie Nation! Yesterday I heard on the national news, that the medical community has officially ended the threat status of the H1N1 or Swine Flu epidemic,or pandemic or whatever. I thought Yay! And,if it hadn't been our 600th post yesterday,I would have presented this blast from Zombie Daily's past originally brought to you on May 11th 2009.
While watching the morning news today it was reported that doctors have discovered a new "super bug" originating from Pakistan and/or India that is poised to infect millions. Wow,that was a great 24hours without paranoia. Oh well....

OUR 600th POST ON ZOMBIE DAILY !!!

Greetings Zombie Nation! Wow 600 postings of zombie art today! I really hope that you've enjoyed the ride so far. At first it was difficult to find an image to post today, but then,I thought, hey, you can't go wrong with a "hot" zombie right? I mean, she is hot right? I dunno,I'll let the rest of you zombie freaks figure it out. Right now I'm going to celebrate,I mean right after I finish some zombie art. See you very soon!

Air Guitar Hero Zombie

Hey Zombie Fans! 'Hope you enjoyed Zombiewood Weekly Week. Now back to the plain old common zombies that we see littering our streets everyday. I always thought that zombies could act out parts of their former lives that they had a passion for or the things they did repeatedly, thus giving them a personality at least from a visual stand point. Hence, you would have the baseball player zombie in his team uniform, the mechanic zombie in overalls, carrying a wrench and so on. This zombie was formerly the lead guitarist for a blues band, and although he lost his guitar,he still seems to mimic playing as he shambles along. Just imagining seeing this weird zombie coming towards me would totally freak me out.

Zombiewood Weekly Continues!

Hey Zombie Nation! This is an image that I had posted last year as a teaser for the Zombiewood project. It was originally going to be an inset image to the "Red Carpet" cover that I posted earlier this week. Both were changed in favour of the "Pretty Girl" zombie paparazzi type final cover. Again, these things happen in the process and you can't take it too hard when an art piece is rejected. For this I am happy to have a forum like Zombie Daily so that zombie fans like yourselves can see living dead art that would otherwise go unpublished. Thanks for checking in. Tune in tomorrow for the last of the Zombiewood weekly week coverage and a new pod-cast!

Zombiewood Week Continues :The Marilyn Zombie

Greetings Zombie Lovers! In doing the Zombiewood Weekly book,I really wanted to ensure that I put in a wide variety of stars from all across the celebrity spectrum. I also wanted to ensure a variety of images from full body shots, group shots portraits and some nice clean black and white shots like the Marilyn one in today's post. In fact I really wanted to do a lot more of the "older stars" in black and white, but there was only so much space. I think that I would like to revisit those for postings here on Zombie Daily. Stay tuned!

New Zombiewood Weekly Outtake! Sarah Jessica Parker

Hey Zombie Nation! I know that I've riffed pretty hard on Sex in the City and all that, but truth is,Sarah Jessica Parker is one of my favorite actresses. I loved her in "Ed Wood" and "Mars Attacks". Also,I thought that she was such an odd candidate to zombify,I couldn't resist. Once again, this particular image does not appear in Zombiewood Weekly, rather,an alternate image was chosen for the final. Order your copy to see it in all of it's gory glory. I think that in the book, she's carrying a shopping bag of skin and entrails and stuff. More to come!

Zombiewood Weekly Day Four : Conan Zombie!

Hey Zombie Nation! Today's post is another outtake from the wildly popular Zombiewood weekly book. This time the living dead celebrity is none other than one of my favorites Conan O'Brien. I really had a blast doing this version of the Conan zombie, mainly because of his great hair and kind of matter of fact expression. Stay tuned for more outtakes and unedited images from the book all week!

Original Zombiewood Weekly Cover!

Hey Zombie Fans! Consider Zombie Daily as the "Special Features" section to the Zombiewood Weekly book. All this week I'll be showing you outtakes and alternate shots from the book. As promised, here is the original cover design not used in the final print. Hey,it happens sometimes. Here I wanted to show what a red carpet event in Hollywood might look like if it were overrun by zombies. More to come, stay tuned! Oh,Hey,and check out our article posted on one of the best blog sites ever Neatorama! It includes even more images from Zombiewood!
